Participants in NLP Practitioner, Master Practitioner and Trainer training courses will receive full joining instructions prior to the course start date, however you might find the following general information useful in planning your travel and accommodation.

Location

The training takes place in the conservatory at the rear of my home in Solihull, B90 4RF. Full details are provided in the joining instructions which you will receive prior to the training, however the postcode is all you need for now.

Transport

If you’re driving, there are some off-street spaces and also plenty of on-street parking.

If you’re using the train then Solihull station is the closest (2 miles) with regular services to Birmingham Snow Hill and London Marylebone (Chiltern Line), and Birmingham International is 9 miles away (Virgin, London Midland) with services to Birmingham New St and London Euston. If you're coming from the North then to change from Euston to Snow Hill is a 10 minute walk through Birmingham City Centre.

Training Hours

For courses running over two long-weekend modules, the training times are:

Friday 10:00 – 17:00

Saturday 09:00 – 17:00

Sunday 09:00 – 17:00

Monday 09:00 – 16:00

These are the training times, please arrive no more than 15 minutes early to get settled in.

We’ll take breaks in the morning and afternoon, and around an hour for lunch.

What to bring

You'll receive a copy of the manual for the course, though you can bring your own if you already have one. If you have an old copy, you'll be given an up-to-date one.

You may want to bring a notebook and pens too, though if you forget there are shops nearby.

Food & Drink

Hot and cold drinks, biscuits and snacks will be provided at break times.

Various shops and supermarkets are within a short walk, including Costa Coffee, M&S Food, Sainsbury’s, Subway and Boots. You can ‘eat in’ or bring your lunch back to the training venue, and you can also use the kitchen to refrigerate and/or warm up your own food if you need to.

A little further away, you’ll find the town centres of Solihull (2 miles) and Shirley (1 mile) with a wide range of takeaways, bars and restaurants.

Accommodation

If you need to find local accommodation, I would suggest the following;

Cranmore Guest House – a budget B&B that’s a 5 minute walk away

Airbnb has some choices within walking distance

Village Hotel – a midrange hotel 1 mile away in a semi-rural location

Corus Regency Hotel – a midrange hotel, 1 mile away on the A34

Premier Inn Solihull Shirley – a midrange hotel 1.3 miles away in the centre of Shirley

The Stables - Deer Park Farm B93 8PR – a quiet country location, 15 minutes drive away

More hotel and B&B options are available in the centre of Solihull, 2 miles away.

Prerequisites

For Practitioner certification, there are no prerequisites.

For Master Practitioner certification, you will need to have completed a recognised NLP Practitioner certification. Without that, you can still enjoy the course, you just won’t receive SNLP certification, for what it's worth. Please email evidence to Peter at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

You’ll need to let me know if you have any history of mental illness or if you are taking any medications. If you do, that makes you as normal as the rest of us.

It’s inevitable in this kind of training that personal issues will arise, and all of us are absolutely there to support you. Therefore, be sensitive to others as you would have them be to you. On the other hand, remember that learning and change are journeys, not destinations. Ever onwards!

We will spend a lot of time on the Master Practitioner training working with the deeper structures of our experience of life, using NLP’s Meta Model. Even if you covered this on your Practitioner training, it will not be to the same depth or detail, so we will be working up from the basics to make sure everyone has the same level of familiarity and comfort with this approach. If you want to read about Meta Model and practice some language analysis before the course starts then you are very welcome to do so; take a look at the ‘About NLP’ section of www.nenlp.com to start with, and also join the Facebook group ‘NLP Meta Model Q&A’.

What to expect

We’ll be working a lot on the structures that drive language and behaviour, and we’ll be doing this through live demonstrations, listening to and watching recordings, looking at statements on paper and also working with live subjects, i.e. you. This will be an excellent opportunity for you to work on anything that you feel is holding you back, or any areas of your life where you would like to create more change. Of course, you don’t have to take part in any demonstrations, though you will be practising in pairs and small groups. Therefore, to get the most out of this rare opportunity to work at greater depth with a group of like-minded people in a safe environment, you might give some thought to the areas that you would like to explore during the practice exercises.

Recording

Video recording and photography may take place during the course which you are welcome to opt out of, you are also welcome to have copies of any photographs for your own use.
